Bishop Marvis D. Hood Sr. is a native of Detroit, Michigan. He is a graduate of Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in African American History and Political Science in 1996. Bishop Hood was called to the preaching ministry in 1997 and preached his trial sermon, "Plugged Into the Spirit" for Watch Night service at Calvary United Methodist Church.
Bishop Hood became a licensed minister in the COGIC in 2003 and was ordained an Elder by the Late Bishop Walter Emil Bogan Sr., Prelate of the Great Lakes 1st Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ in August of 2005. He had previously served as youth pastor at Calvary United Methodist Church in Detroit, Michigan and as Associate Minister at House of Prayer Institutional COGIC in Detroit, Michigan. In 2015, Bishop Hood was installed as Pastor of Promises of God COGIC by the Late Bishop Rance Lee Allen of the Northwestern Harvest Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. Bishop Hood was the Founder and Senior Pastor at Promises of God COGIC in Detroit, Michigan from 2014-2018.
After being diagnosed with a serious heart ailment in 2018, Bishop Hood was forced to relinquish his pastoral leadership of Promises of God COGIC. Bishop Hood received divine healing from his ailment in 2019 and thus lives by the words found in John 11:4, "When Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness will not end in death; but [on the contrary it is] for the glory and honor of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it.” AMP
Bishop Hood is a firm believer in TRUE worship according to John 4:23-24. Following his divine healing and restoration, Bishop Hood established Total Restoration Ministries Global in May of 2022. Bishop Hood was consecrated and elevated to the sacred office of Bishop by the Presiding Bishop of Judah Fellowship International, Dr. Terence R. Joyce Sr. at Holy Convocation December 14, 2025.
Bishop Hood is the proud father of one son (Marvis Hood Jr.) and two daughters (Imani Hood and Aadynn Compher- Hood). He was wed to his soul mate, Ashara Giles, on 3/3/2023. Bishop Hood comes from a lineage of pastors, which include his maternal grandfather, father, brother, 2 uncles and 4 cousins.

First Lady Ashara Ylana Hood is a Detroit native and graduate of Cass Technical High School. She later attended Oakland Community College and University of Phoenix, where she majored in Business Administration. After college, she became a published author, consultant, and freelance editor.
Lady Shar gave her life to Jesus Christ in 1989 at the age of twelve and was also water baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit while attending Straight Gate International Church in Detroit. In 1997, she joined the youth department as a leader, served in the nursery and children's church, and worked as an Editorial Assistant for the church's magazine, The Pathfinder. In 1998, she was asked to oversee the SGIC Youth Department radio program heard on 1340AM called, "The Path" as a producer and script writer.
Throughout her service to the Lord over the last three decades, Lady Shar continues to work with children in the nursery, mentors at risk high school girls, and serves in Creative Arts with the audio/visual team. She is spiritually gifted in exhortation and meets with women monthly to encourage them by sharing her incredible testimony of how God delivered and healed her from trauma ranging from domestic and sexual abuse to homelessness and mental illness. She also teaches the Word of God to middle and high schoolers on a weekly basis. Lady Shar is married to Pastor Marvis Hood, has one son, and lives in the suburbs of Detroit. She loves to travel, read, watch sports, and volunteer in her local community.
